I would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody a Peaceful and Happy New Year.

Great work! The book and the site are both exceptional. Upon reading some of the remarks though, I am left with a feeling that there is way too much hatred in the world... can we not all live together?

Kardokh Shafei, you live in Canada, have you not noticed how ALL races and religions live together without violence. You talk of bringing freedom to your people one day, if that can be done without violence then all the power to you. However, if you propose to do this with violence.... then I pity you and your people, as it is they who will suffer. Remember that violence begets violence... and so the vicious cycle will continue.

And, Mr. Proud Turksish (donkey) you really have too high an opinion of yourself and your knowledge of people. You should keep your high-handed opinions for your fellow Turks.

Peace and love.

Read and read it carefully you fake peace supporters.

If you read the articles that I've written under the name of spiderman, turkish man and proud turkish donkey, and the comments against them, you'll understand how little good wills that I have after all those comments of your kurdish friends. I tried to write something peacefully on my first letter and try to find some points between the two cultures living in single bordered country. I tried to be objective and true but your friends started to make comments with their own glasses as they want to see the situation one sided and used so many bad words against me and my culture.

Before you suggest me to calm down and try to let me know you are sorry about me, you should try to read all the articles and see what you people really want.

I never included all Kurds in one place, never got personal, and tried to respect. But no more respect to you...And no more Mr.Nice Guy. Sorry....

You can't be objective and try to see the truth.

This is not the way you should support your culture and try to keep your values, norms under respectfull control.

NO WAY....Don't even bother to write an answer to me....I won't be visiting this page any more, it's not worth it to try to find the peace this way....

So Keep your mouth shut Spiderman and do not call kurds as terrorists. Accept a solution for kurdish issue in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey. The Kurdish political movement under the leadership of PKK is bringing change to the structure of politics in Turkey. Support PKK ,Leave MHP and god bless you in this holy month of Ramazan. Use frienndly words. Try to see the brightness of fellow human being in the Shadow of History. For the attention of adhernts of chaos and unjust relationship between peoples in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey! You should give yourself little time and learn even to respect those who you condiser to be your destroyers. You should learn and accept that there is a kurdish people with its own sistinct culture, language ,tradition and most of all a sense of self awarance. you should really accept that Abdulla Ocalan is admired by millions of kurdish people every where in this globe.and you should refrain from humilation vis-a-vis kurds who want mutual respect. To put it streat if you see Ataturk as a symbole of turkishness and proud for ypur sentiment, why you are accepting kurds sypathy towards Ocalan, why you do not appreciate that millions of fellow humanbeings feel to be in prison with him. We are living in 21 centurey. The assimilation of Kurdish culture and identity in some other ethnical identity is not possible any longer. If you think of a constructive and civilised approach then existing problems could be resolved in a matter of years. No kurdish aspirations without OCALAN. If you think by continuing hatred against Ocalan ,namely kurds, the profound problems of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan could be resolved I think a little reason shows that this is not the case.

Long Live OCALAN the legitimate leader of Kurdish people.

Long Live The friendship Between Kurdish and Turkish Peoples!

FOR KARA;

WHY DON'T YOU TRY TO SETTLE EVERYTHING IN YOUR OWN COMMUNITY AND EDUCATE MORE PEOPLE AND DON'T LET THEM FIGHT ON THE MOUNTAINS, CAVES OF YOUR MOTHER LAND TURKEY. AND TRY TO GAIN RESPECT FROM TURKS BY NOT KILLING TURKS AND YOUR OWN TURKISH KURD PEOPLE. YOU'LL ALWAYS LOOSE THIS WAY AND WILL SEE THE RESPECT IN YOUR DREAMS. FIGHTING IS NOT THE SOLUTION. WHY DON'T YOU TRY TO HAVE HIGHER SUCCESS IN ACADEMIES AND GET INTO THE POLITICS AND TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM AT THE PARLIMENT. THIS MIGHT SOUND FUNNY TO YOU BUT THAT HOW IT SHOULD BE BABY. HAVE YOU TRIED THIS, HAVE YOU EVER EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. I DON'T THINK SO. BELIEVING IS THE HALF WAY OF SUCCESS YOU KNOW. YOU MIGHT LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO SEE IT BUT EDUCATE THE YOUNGERS AND LET THEM DO IT. BUT DON'T GET THEM INVOLVED INTO ILLEGAL ACTS LIKE HAVING A SOVEREIGN COUNTRY INSIDE OF TURKISH BORDERS. THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN. TURKEY WON'T LET YOU TO DO IT. LET YOUR CHILDREN KNOW ABOUT EVERYTHING AND GROW UP WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF HAVING PEACE AND SOLVE THE PROBLEMS WITHOUT GUNS IN THEIR HANDS. YOU CAN LIVE AND HAVE RIGHTS IN TURKEY, MAY BE EDUCATION IN YOUR LANGUAGE BUT NOT A COUNTRY. DON'T EVEN DREAM ABOUT IT. IT IS FAR FROM BEEING A DREAM AND TRUTH. YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO LEAVE THESE LANDS AND TRY TO HAVE SOMEWHERE ELSE TO BUILD A COUNTRY. DON'T EVEN SAY OR TRY TO DEFEND THAT THESE LANDS WERE YOURS. IT NEVER HAPPENED. IT WAS BELONG TO THE SELCUK EMPIRE AND OTTOMAN EMPIRE AND YOU WERE THE COLONIES AND STATE OF THESE EMPIRE. AND JUST BECAUSE YOUR ANCESTORS ACTED AS YOU DID NOW, NEVER HAD TRUE RIGHTS AND COMFORT IN THOSE LANDS. YOU HAVE TO SEE AND REALIZE THAT IS NOT HAPPINING THIS WAY.

DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO ANSWER ME BACK IN DEFENSIVE WAY. IT STILL WILL SHOW YOUR ANGER. YOU DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER BACK BECAUSE YOU KNOW THE TRUTH IN ALL i'VE WROTE ANYWAY.

PEACE,

HERE IS SOME INFORMATION FOR THE FANS OF OCALAN!!!

WHO IS ABDULLAH OCALAN? WHAT IS THE PKK?

The terrorist organization known as the Kurdistan Workers' Party or the "PKK"is an extremely brutal Marxist-Leninist set-up founded by Abdullah Ocalan in 1978.From the late 1970s, Ocalan worked closely with both the then Soviet Union and with Syria, whose governments were attempting to generate a political breakdown in Turkey. In 1980, Ocalan actually moved to Syria and used Syrian facilities as well as training grounds in the Bekaa Valley to drill terrorist groups for cross-border attacks against targets in Turkey. In August of 1984, Ocalan's terrorist groups began attacking Turkish police stations and similar targets in Turkey's southeast provinces. Since then, the PKK has been waging a vicious terrorist campaign against Turkey in order to carve out a so-called independent Kurdish state from the Turkish Republic's sovereign territory. To achieve this objective of separatism, Ocalan, as a professional Terrorist, masterminded thousands of PKK terrorist activities against Turkey, including murders, kidnappings and mutilations. These activities have resulted, to date, in the death of thousands of innocent individuals, most of whom are civilians, including women, babies, children, the elderly, civil servants, and school teachers. The PKK's main target has been the entire populations of all the villages which resisted it in southeast Turkey. Indeed, the PKK indiscriminately murders the very people it claims to represent: the Kurds. Moreover, the PKK's enemies include not only the Turkish authorities but also, ironically, the two leading ethnic Kurdish groups in Iraq, namely, Masud Barzani's Kurdish Democratic Party and Jalal Talabani's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. Clearly, Ocalan disguises PKK activities as a romantic campaign for Kurdish independence when, in actuality, the hallmark of his terrorist activity has been a strong commitment to Marxism-Leninism. He has infused an ethnic Kurdish dimension into his terrorist activities. The United States has long recognized the PKK as an international terrorist organization, citing it as such in its State Department's Patterns of Global Terrorism reports. The PKK has also been categorized as a foreign terrorist organization by the US according to the 1996 Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act. Interpol, as well, issued an International Red Bulletin alert calling for Ocalan's arrest and immediate repatriation to Turkey for his terrorist activities. In October 1998, Turkey informed Syria that it would take action unless that government halted its support for Ocalan's PKK and formally requested Ocalan's extradition to Ankara. As a result, Ocalan fled to Russia. When he traveled to Italy from Moscow on November 13, 1998, he was arrested upon arrival in Rome with a false passport. Then tracked by the Turkish Intelligence Service MIT and brought to Ankara to stand trial for leading a terrorist organization, ordering killings of thousands of people and threatening Turkey's territorial integrity.

A little on Cagri's comment submited in October! You see the solutions of every problem in education, so you admittently claim that you are an educated person , but say things about Ocalan, Zana and Ahmed(t) Kaya which are sheer fabrications and are far from claims by an educated person. Free yourself from Conspericy Theory and try to understand kurds. Learn your childern to accept and respect kurdish existance, This is a genuine Cagri to Cagri!

Agreement in Disagreement! to the Turlish Man. The way you have reasoned in your comment of 26/11-2001 could be a good start for a constructive discussion about the relationship between Kurds and Turks and for harmonious life in Kurdistan and Turkey. Personaly I do not think here is a good forum for that, because here the visitors are expected to write their comments and impressions about " On The Shadow of History". but, otherwise I am prepared to continue to discuss with you objectively and without any prejudice. The point of disagreement between me and you is on the role and ideas of Ocalan.I allow me to say, you base your judgement on war time situation, when the arguments are not based on reason and facts.Furthermore I do not think you expected to hear reason from a side that you may have considered as an enemy in the past. You say you respect me, but not Ocalan, and I claim as a politically consious kurd if I have any respect in the eyes of the "others" is for the ideas of Ocalan that have thought me and many others to stand fast on our identity without hating any other culture and entity. If you see any room for further discussin As I said above I am prepared to do that.

A little Sugessetion! I wrote a short comment here recently and I thought it could create an atomsphere for non-friendly discussion but at least a normal one without humilating one another. "Turkish Man Again" in his comment of November 23 starts by some normal words but all of the sudden in facing the unpleasant and rubish swears of some one who wrongly thinks he/she is defending kurds, loose reasoning and humilates kurds in Person of Ocalan. I think it is not a good method. If "Turkish Man Again" believe that the kurds and turks should live in peace and equality together, he must respect the will of millions of kurds who respect Ocalan and his ideas. So why should you involve him in answering to a person who does not any good to kurds by insulting turks. "Turkish Man Again" calm down,do not reacte out of immediate reaction. ignore comments which are just 4 letter words. Try to have a constructive discussion with adhernets of OCALAN, who are trying to find a solution for Turkey's problems. This can be achieved by recognition and respect for kurdish rights. Hatred and wordmongering here are not constructive.

I WASN'T TALKING ABOUT MY SON IN MY MAIL. THAT IS MY FATHER WHO WAS IN THE TURKISH AIR FORCE AND DROPED TONS OF BOMBS OVER THOSE PUPPETS JUST LIKE YOU OF ABDULLAH OCALAN.

BECAUSE THOSE PUPPETS AND YOU WERE GETTING ENVOLVED TO THE KILLINGS OF INNOCENT BABIES, TEACHERS, DOCTORS AND OTHER PEOPLE. YOU COULDN'T KILL THE SOLDIERS BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T HAVE GUTS. YOUR POWER IS ONLY GOOD ENOUGH TO TORTURE AND KILL THE INNOCENT PEOPLE WITHOUT ANY PROTECTION. YOU CALL THIS FREEDOM FIGHTING?!!!???? REMEMBER, THERE WASN'T ANY KURDISTAN BEFORE WITHIN THE BORDERS OF TURKEY. AND TURKEY OR ANY COUNTRY WOULDN'T BOMB HER OWN LANDS FOR NOTHING.

YOU PEOPLE STARTED THIS AND THERE YOU HAD IT. NOBODY MESSED WITH YOU. YOU WANTED ALL THESE AND LOSE SO MANY PEOPLE OF YOURS. IF YOU ARE BRAVE ENOUGH WHY DON'T YOU GO UP TO THOSE MOUNTAINS AND TRY TO LIVE AT LEAST 3DAYS LIKE YOUR FRIENDS.

YOU CAN'T BECAUSE IT IS SO EASY TO MAKE COMMENTS FROM YOUR WARM SIT WITH YOUR COFFEE ON YOUR HAND IN YOUR HOME.

WE BOMBED YOUR CAMPS AND CAVES BECAUSE WE ARE BIG, WE ARE POWERFULL AND BRAVE ENOUGH TO DEFEND OUR LANDS. AND THOSE LANDS ARE ALWAYS OPEN TO EVERYBODY FROM ANY ETHNICITY, ANY RELIGION AND ANY RACE WHO WANTS TO LIVE IN PEACE.

NOT ALL KURDS BUT PEOPLE LIKE U DESERVE TO EAT THOSE BOMBS AS LONG AS YOU CONTINUE TO KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE AND DON'T RECOGNIZE THE TURKISH REPUBLIC.

YOU'VE EVEN KILLED YOUR OWN PEOPLE WHO LIVED IN TURKISH VILLAGES JUST BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T OPEN THEIR DOORS, HOMES AND KITCHENS FOR YOU. POOR YOU. YOU JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TALK ABOUT AND THINK ABOUT. YOU JUST LOOK AT THE PAGES OF THE OLD WAR MOVIES AND ARTICLES AND TRY TO DEFEND YOURSELF AND WRITE STUFF AGAINS TO TURKISH PEOPLE. YOU CAN THINK WHATEVER YOU THINK BUT DON'T MAKE REST OF PEACEFULL KURDISH PEOPLE INVOLVED IN YOUR GAMES. I OR MY PEOPLE MIGHT BE DONKEY BUT UNFORTUNATELLY YOU ARE JUST SO LITTLE BRAINED CAN'T EVEN BE A DONKEY. BEING A DONKEY FOR YOU WOULD BE A GIFT MY LITTLE FRIEND.

DON'T MESS WITH US. QUIT LIVING IN THOSE MOUNTAINS, CAVES LIKE ANIMALS AND TRY TO BE YOURSELF. BE A HUMAN.

YOU KNOW THERE ARE SO MANY KURDS IN TURKEY LIVING IN HAPPLY. EVEN IN THESE ARTICLES THERE ARE SOME....

EDUCATE YOURSELF, BE BRAVE TO FACE THE TRUTH AND BE A HERO OF YOURSELF AND PEOPLE BY SUPPORTING THE PEACE.

YOU CAN'T BE HERO BY SWIMMING IN BLOOD. OTHERWISE YOU'LL BE DRAWNING IN YOUR OWN BLOOD. I HOPE GOD WILL HELP YOU AND BLESS YOU TO THINK MORE WISE AND PEACEFULL. AND I KNOW PEOPLE WILL TAKE SOME OF MY SENTENCES AND PUBLISH IT. BUT THEY WILL TAKE IT PARTIALLY AND TRY TO SHOW THEM IN HATERIAT. THEY ALWAYS DO THAT. With your colorful history and background.I still don't understand your madness to have a bordered country within the TURKISH REPUBLIC. Where Turks and Kurds can live together. All those sufferings, all those show offs in Europe didn't pay back too much to you. Now you people are considered as TERRORIST generation by the European countries with the US.

I feel sorry for those who were fighting for nothing in Eastern TURKEY.

Don't forget. These lands belongs to TURKS and will stay TURKS'. Let's forget about the politics and become their puppets. We, as TURKISH people aggree to live with you and hell with the politics. But don't try to divide this country like you've been trying for the past 20 years. You can't deal with TURKEY. And as long as you don't mess with Turkish People. We won't mess with you and live happly after all together.

I am a son of a military dad and know the reality behind the stories in the East. We've lived. I know where and when you people were right and I know where and when we were right. It is easy to make commans from distance and encourage people. What important is, to live through those days alive and suffer and discuss the situations later based on the true stories.

Hope to have peace in the future with Kurdish people living in Turkish lands.

Don't forget, everybody has a choice; since nobody can divide these lands, everybody has the right to love or leave this country. There is no another alternative.

Sincerely.

Hi ! I think usining this site for insighting ethnical and rasial hatered is not a good job to do. what is possibly more positive is to comment on the book. If the book can impress the reader, if it could make her/him to think more about the plight of a people who has been denied of its basic right namely its identity ,then the ground is paved for further discussion on the subject. Even those who by different motives may not sympathize with kurds and their plight ,try to be reasonable, no doubt their attitude do not remain the same if they are prepared to understand the main message of this book which is: Do not deny their existance, try to respect their being and why not living with them in equality and harmony. to win the heart of some one who hates you, could be more dificult than eliminating him/her, but .... why not trying it. it must be part of kurdish struggle. life is beatiful

It is wonderful that this web site exists to give the Kurdish people the opportunity to state their case to the world and to interract with each other. I was particularly heartened by Seargent Davidson's contribution. We do not have to be Kurdish to recognise the suffering of this ancient nation. There are millions of people around the world who sympathise with your cause. It is heartening to discover that American soldiers can be touched by their expeiences in your land and overcome jingoism to recognise the injustices that have been inflicted on a nation who have no other claim to assistance except their rights as human beings to deserve the dignity and respect which is nowadays only accorded to rich and influential countries.

I am very interested in the Kurdish culture and lifestyle apart from the political studies that has been collected. I would like to know about their pass-time activities, recreational and community activities in the different tribes. Do they vary in interests or are they similar, and what are they. Are there particular kinds of food for different communities/regions and what are they. Most collected is on the history/politics of these people. Do the Kurds have distinct cultural, social ways that distinguish them from their neighbors or is the Islamic culture embedded in all the many different Muslim groups, shared throughout the MiddleEast. Is there any one particular Islamic/Muslum group that best comes closest to the Kurdish people that I might get a fuller, cleared picture of these people? In United States, for example, in sports, there are several. What are the sport activities played by the Kurds-traditionally speaking that is clearly Kurdish,if any? Same with food.

Reach for the pen. violence solves nothing. education brings healthy and effective solutions. I am from Turkey and I know the education is there, if you are willing to reach for the pen instead of the sword.

The first thing I sense in some comments is the heredatory hatred of Turkish. and the young generation of these have been living abroad and dont know anything of what is going on, all they know is third party stories. I am not saying they are true or untrue, I am saying in order to move on you should look ahead not behind. when you change your title from barbaric terrorist to educated individual, your opinion will be respected. I red one comment about Turkish people being racist, I am a Turk and I have never mistreated someone because of their identity. I agree on some government members being racist but you cant label a 60 million of being racist. for me; solution comes from education, when we learn to discuss our problems then we can solve any problem.

I dont have a strong opinion about a Kurdish state, you can have it, but I'd rather you tried to educate yourself and contribute to existing society. this is 21st century people are talking about globalisation and you are babbling about the opposite. I dont even want to write about communism and ocalan, who was a Turkish government funded spy to boost public trust after the coup, he was supposed to get caught and make the government look good, but the money made him loose it. btw he cant even speak Kurdish. this topic is very delicate and easily exploitable, I know a lot of people, who made fortune from Kurdish peoples feelings, famous singers like late Ahmet Kaya, or politicians like Leyla Zana.

I would like to quote from an asylum seeker "next month, I have to make deposition, I gotto lie all day again, hehe"

After the local governments decline, a lot of cases are taken to human rights courts because these bad apples are making false accusations to get economic asylum. Genuine victims of torture have my sympathies. There are a lot of people about to stir the mess up, and get what they want in the chaos, what we need is vision which comes from education. please I beg you, educate your children.

I think when we talk about kurds to the younger generashion, the onley thing we can teach them is about the kurds missories throughout the scenturies. Yes, we know them well, but what about the good things, the tradishions, the music, theater, the childrens, the stories, the games, their natural habitans aso. The youngsters need help there and also with their mother language in order to teach the next generation after them. I think the books help uss little there. We need these things I mentioned above also in English and other europian languages. Not all can speak or understand kurdish and need help to enter the gateway to their history and background.

Written immediately after the New York City and Washington suicide air crashes, initially partly proven to follow the same US arrival (using false Canadian papers) as was used by Saddam Hussein's 1993 bomber, on the day of his sentencing, the time for greater attention to a prosperous, oil-rich Kurdistan independent of Iraq will have merit to many Americans as the key to castrating Iraq's Baath party.

To benefit from profitable Kurd oil exports through their port of Iskendrum (Alexandretta), and to obtain EU membership, of course), the Turks will extend greater autonomy (but hardly independence). to Turkish Kurdistan. To do otherwise might send the oil flowing across Baathist Syria to their port of Al Ladhiqiyah (Latakia) at the politically acceptable cost of linguistic autonomy to the far samller Kurdish minority concentrated along Syria's northern border and northeastern panhandle. From a Kurdish prospective this will grant the economic, linguistic and cultuaral autonomy long desired by many of those outside present day Iraq, while turning present northern Iraq into an independent Kurdish economic power. From a worldwide perspective this will destroy the economic base of Saddam Hussein's Iraq and reduce his power extraordinarily. Thus the idea will prove advantageous to the anti-Hussein allies.

Dear creator(s) of the AkaKurdistan web-site,

I am not a Kurd, I am a Karabakh-born Azeri, but I want to say that I admire your work, it is really one of the best sites about a particular nation I have ever seen.

But I have found one error in your 'Index of Site contents' (http://www.akakurdistan.com/kurds). You have a link named "Turkish Propaganda" and, surprisingly, it points to the the photos of the Karabakh conflict shot by a Kurdish photographer (http://www.akakurdistan.com/kurds/baku). I hope you will correct this error asap and will give the link a proper name.

My best and sincere wishes to you and to all the Kurdish people.

Regarding Kurds in Turkey, you might wish to contact the Australian War Memorial. During WW1 Australian troops landed at ANZAC Cove in the Dardanelles. Despite over 8000 deaths, & 26000 Australian casulaties Australian and Turkish relations became very close, and have remained so, to the point that the cove the troops landed at being re-named ANZAC Cove (Australian New Zealand Army Corps).

The Australian War Memorial researchers will likely have references and images related to Kurdish people involved in the conflict, or may have some information on some of the images you have posted on this site.

I am a Kurd of Turkey and I want to say that Kurdish people is free in Turkey.

Leader as Ocalan and party as PKK are terrorist! What they do against the turkish and kurdish people is against human rights, and the pretend that from Turkey...

I did not want a communist Kurdistan, with a leader as Ocalan! I am happy in Turkey and I have good relations with turks and turkish gouvernament. Kurds and Turks lived together for many many years in peace.

Atat?k is the leader of all the people who live in Turkey, turks, kurds both.

There is not a Kurdistan and the kurds are very different: I speak kurdish but I do not understand the kurdish language of the kurds of other villages in Turkey and kurds from Irak I do not also understand them. There is not a united kurdish language. But in Turkey we can speak it and there are also newspaper in klurdish!

Turkey is the only land who kurds are free!

The more I study about the Kurds and their traditions, the more convinced I am that Armenians and Kurds are descended from the same pre Christian, pre Islamic roots. We share similar somatic (physical) features and our instinct in costume and adornment, dance and even holidays are evidence of the hybrid (Anatolian + Indo-Iranian) identity which we share.

Politically, our objectives are similar; rectification of historic wrongs suffered under Ottoman and Republican Turkish regimes.

I am profoundly grateful that the Kurdish people, although suffering on all sides, have found the courage to repudiate the Armenian genocide which some Kurdish tribal leaders willingly participated in.

In spite of some overlapping territorial claims on the part of Armenian/Kurdish activists, I believe that now, as in the eLE KNOWS ABOUT US MEDES (KURDS). HOWEVER WHEN I READ HISTORY BOOKS. I FEEL VERY PROUD THAT WE ARE STILL SPEAK,WRITE OUR OWN LANGUAGE,WEARE OWER OWN CLOTHES AND TALK ABOUT OUR NATIONALITY. I AM A MED(KURD) FROM SOUTH OF MEDIA(KURDISTAN). I DID SEEK REFUGE IN AUS 4 YEARS AGO.I HAVE LOST MANY MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY, RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. THERE ARE MILLIONS OF STOEIES TO TELL. WHEN I WAS BACK HOME I DIDNOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT MY OWN HISTORY THAT IS BECAUSE WE WERE UNDERE ARABIS (CAMELS)RULES. JUST BY LOOKING AT MEDIA'S MAP I GET NIGHTMERE.

IMAGINE WE ARE AMONG MOST BARBARAN NATIONS(TURKS&ARABS)THEY BOTH ARE MOSLIMS WHICH IS MOST FACIST RELIGION IN THE WORLD.

WE ARE IN FACT MEDES AND OUR EMPIRE WAS CALLED MEDIA WE WERE COUSINS WITH PERSIANS. WE WERE BOTH FROM ARYAN RACE AND WE WERE FOLLOWERS OF ZOROSTER OR ZARA WHICH IT WAS AN ARYAN RELIGION. BAD OR GOOD WE WERE TOGETHER.

UNTIL IN THE 7TH CENTURY WHEN CAMELS (ARABS)IN THE NAME OF ISLAM CAMEIN AND INVADE THE LAND. AS I MENTIONED BEFORE ISLAM IS MOST FACIST RELIGION. THEY CIRCUMCISE WOMEN THEY MARY YOUNG GIRLS THEY HAVE FOR WIFES THERE MEN KISS EACH OTHER LIKE FAGS AND MANY MORE BARBARAN HABITS THE MOST AND UNFORGIVABILE THIN ISLAM DID TO MEDES THEY BROUGHT DONKES(TURKS)FROM MANGOLIA TO MEDIA AND PERSIA.

First a question: does anyone know if the town Zorduc, which is shown flooded in the film "Journey to the Sun" (which I also highly recommend), actually exists or existed? I can't find it on any map or Kurdish website. If the name was changed, I wonder which town was used...I know many have been flooded because of GAP. Second: it is sad that some Turks feel compelled to write to this site and express their rather indocrinated defensiveness about the idea that racism exists in Turkey. Certainly it exists the world over. While there are people who blend, mix, co-exist in harmony (as is the case with many Turks and Kurds); others persecute/are persecuted. I won't go into the fact that identity is "floating", that there's no such thing as pure blood, and that "Turks" like everyone else are mixed and, most probably have at least a little "Kurdish" blood (and the converse). Just because a few Kurds "are rich" doesn't negate the harsh treatment of Kurds in the East and the metropolises of Turkey, as well. (Must I talk about sanctions, torture, the burning of villages, forced evacution, the events in Dersim...?) Just because a person doesn't experience racism, sexism, classism, political ostracism, etc., doesn't mean these don't exist. Open your eyes. As for GAP, in the end, it may do the people existing in the nearby areas more harm than good; if you don't believe me, do your own research. And, as for Kurds enjoying a "majority status", yok canim! What if Turkey was called "Kurdey" and Turks were referred to as "field Kurds", your accent was considered ugly and your culture backwards? I know plenty of progressive-minded Turks, so I don't want to malign or make one sweeping statement about all Turks' behaviour, but the reverse of this senario does exist to an extent (and in some places amongst certain people, to a great degree)in Turkey. Third: on a less critical note: thanks for this website. I enjoyed reading the exchanges.

Best, MR

All of you Kurdish people! These words for you! I'm a Turkish boy who is 16.Turks and Kurds are friend. Your war is a game of European countries. There are examples of these in our history. So you mustn't believe their behaviours to you. They are absoulately layers. When you have a country (it cannot be) they play this game on you. They do it since we are in world. But they haven't enogh strength to demolish us. I accept that Turkey isn't a perfect country. There are many faults in Turkey but terror is the worst thing in world. You killed many babies etc. what is their faults? Can you tell me? I answer, NOTHING! Let's live together forever

Hello, I left a message last November asking about the Yazidis but it seems that there never was any response.

Once again, I'd like to remind my HUMAN brothers and sisters to stop using their nationalities, religions, cultures etc to make trouble. The situation of Kurdistan might be what it is, but people, in the vast majority, only seeks to live in peace. I think each group should make sure to clean among their own ranks. NOTHING will ever justify violence - be it Turkish OR Kurdish... or any other label.

Do not fall victims of easy brain-washing. If you make yourself think of one group 'superior' to another, that's when the trouble start.

Anyway, thank you for letting me know anything about the Yazidis...
